Simple DIY Sign

I came across this old church register board and I thought hey, that would look great with my church pew!

I printed the Hymn on paper, cut it to fit, and that's all there was to it. I'm all about EASY diy projects.

It's not perfect, but it's different, and I kinda like it. :)

O Christmas Tree

One of my favorite things is the glow of the Christmas tree. Something about sitting on the couch in the evening and watching the lights give off a warm cozy feeling around the room. I love driving by houses and seeing their trees lit up in the window. There is something calming about it for me and it makes me a little gloomy when it gets put away for the next year.
The tree décor is basically the same as last year, with the added exception of a couple new ornaments. You win a prize if you can find them...hahaha.
 Pillow: So Vintage Chic
One of our "tree" traditions is to take the kiddos pics around it. I incorporated last year's pic into my mantel décor this year.
Here is this year's pic.
I found the skis at Hobby Lobby on clearance. I'm contemplating doing a winter themed mantel after the new year, but my intentions don't always come to reality. Perhaps if I hint at it here....eh, who am I kidding?

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Ok, so I'll be the first to admit this season is just flying by. I've been quite pathetic at keeping up with everything, blogging included, unfortunately. But not to worry, we're all still alive and well, and a bit of Christmas cheer has been sprinkled around the old parsonage.

I'm still loving my old door, and it was fun to dress it up for Christmas.

So that's my little Christmas Home tour. I was craving simplicity this year, and I ended up putting 90% of my decorations right back in storage. I decided to only use my absolute most favorite things, and I'm so glad I did. A few strategically placed pieces can go a long way, and still look festive without filling the entire house with a bunch of meaningless stuff that just ends up in the way. I think in the past I had the mindset that it just wasn't Christmas if every inch of the halls weren't properly decked. But by the time New Year's rolled around, I could not wait to pack all that stuff up, and get back to my simple and neutral decor. After all, the true meaning of the Season isn't found in the decorations anyway. I want to put my focus on the true Reason for the Season, and celebrate Jesus and the wonderful hope that He brought to the world.  I hope you all are having a lovely and blessed Christmas season!

Chippy is my love language.

Happy Saturday, friends!
I saw this perfectly chippy and gorgeous old door out by the road in our neighborhood, so naturally, I begged my hubby to run over there and grab it for me.
Isn't she a beauty???
But wait.  It gets better.
Oh yes, it does.
When he went over to get it, the old man came out and said he had 11 old doors if he wanted them, too. Yes, ELEVEN. Say what?! Um, yeah, we want them! There's even a lovely chippy aqua blue one in the pile. That made my heart sing for reals.

I'm already excited about decorating this corner up for Christmas!

I'll leave you with a piccy of my sweet Ollie boy, because he's just so stinkin' cute. Even if he stole my favorite chair and claims it as his own...

Floor Find

Look what we found underneath the carpet upstairs. It needs some work, but I think it's doable.

The pillow is from So Vintage Chic and has our wedding date and the kiddos birth dates. Underneath is the quote, "the best days of our lives." The B&W pillow is from Ikea. The chair, table, plant box, and lamp are from yardsales/thrift store. The sign is from Down Grace Lane.

Big Boys Room

Ok friends, I have officially wrestled my very last bunkbed sheets. Not doing that anymore. Even though it was some good cardio...

You know how it starts. The 5 year old needs a big boy bed, because after all, he's 5 years old still sleeping in a crib converted into a toddler bed. Yeah, it was time. So I decided he could have the guest bed. Then the big guys were like well, hey, if you're taking the bed out of the guest room, let us move into that room! And that's how the great fruit basket turnover of 2016 started. The whole house has been perfect chaos ever since.
But it's all good. Things are starting to come together. Kinda.
That room was a bit bigger than their old room, so (Hallelujah!) we were able to separate the bunks. Now they have no excuses, they can change their own sheets.

I didn't want to put a lot of money into the room swap, so all we did was put a fresh coat of white paint on the walls (Bright White from Sherwin Williams). I found the striped comforters on sale at Target for $14 each - Score! They didn't come with shams, so I bought solid navy ones from Walmart for 2.88 each. Made the throw pillows from some scrap fabric I had in my stash. I got the whole set of nautical flags on ebay for under $20, then strung them together to make banners. The oars were a Hobby Lobby clearance purchase - can't beat $12! Large metal letters were from TJ Maxx a few years ago.

Now, if I can just get the 5 year old's big boy room all done, I'll be one happy Mama!

Don't forget you still have a few days to enter the awesome watch giveaway! See previous post to enter.
 Have a great weekend, friends!

Ladder Love

So, awhile back, I'd gone out to my Great Aunt's farm to shoot some pictures of my boys. As we walked through the old barn, I stumbled onto this perfectly old and beautiful barn ladder. I was instantly smitten.

My Aunt graciously gave it to me, and totally made my day.

I'm sure it will get changed around a zillion times and a zillion ways, but that's the fun of it, right?! ;)

It's deliciously chippy and weathered with the coolest rusted nails. All the things that make my junkin heart sing. :)

Good Old Summertime!

I absolutely LOVE summertime. I love the sunshine, flip flops, pool days, lazy mornings, homemade ice cream and snow cones, and I love the 4th of July!

The front porch looks so cheerful all dressed up in red, white, and blue. I've even managed to keep a few plants alive - go me!

I'm too lazy to make a new wreath for each season, so I just jab seasonal stuff into this same wreath for every holiday. LOL! I like it with the little flags and summer flowers.

We always enjoy our backyard patio in the summer. The vintage glider has been in our family for many many years, and I just love it - this year it's aqua blue, my favorite color! But it's been known to change colors from year to year... ;)

The fun pineapple pillow cover was in our last box from Gable Lane Crates, doesn't it look so summery?
I'll letcha in on a little secret, Walmart has the galvanized metal trays on sale for $5 - that's a deal! I got a round one and a rectangle one, and there's so many things you can do with them.
I hope all you lovelies have a beautiful and safe holiday.
Happy Independence Day, and God Bless America!

Farmhouse Living Room

I do not even remotely live in a farmhouse, or even in the country, but I love the décor that is popping up everywhere! Perhaps I am what they are calling "modern farmhouse." Basically, we're "wannabe's." HA!

Slowly, but surely, I've been making some changes to my living room.
Room & Board Set: Down Grace Lane

I have had these feeders for a couple of months. I picked them up at this cool shop that had a lot of vintage reproductions. I had a spot in the house all picked out, but alas, like usual, they did not work there. So, life got busy and I just threw them in my bench where I keep my extra decorations. They were forgotten about for a bit until I opened the lid needing something. Gasp!! The poor little things needed something done with them.
One of the problems was that I wasn't sure what to put in them besides greenery. I am pretty sure I am breaking some kind of décor decorum rule by using too much. Instead of a farmhouse, I live in a fake greenhouse. :) On the other hand, is there such a thing as too much greenery?
This fan is also about to take a hike. I found something on a recent trip to Franklin, TN with the hubs that I'm hoping he can fanigglerig into a light.
The sun is shining today and done a wonder to the o' mood! We have had lots of rain and it has just lifted my spirits! Be blessed today, friends!
