It's Fall Y'all!

I'm seeing Christmas stuff popping up in all the stores, and I'm just like, wait, what did I miss here, has fall even got here yet??? We're still having 90 degree weather here in the beautiful south. And this girl ain't complaining. Nosiree. I'm loving it. Those cold dreary days when the kiddos get crazy wild with cabin fever will come soon. enough.
My fall decor is pretty simple, nothing fancy here. I love my neutrals and lately I've had the urge to purge. I'm loving simple styles, and I'd love to lose some of my clutter!

Yeah, this piccy has nothing to do with fall, there's nary so much as a pumpkin in it.
But Ollie was just so cute...
Humor me.

If things go like they have for the last 15 years, my notorious black thumb of death will have it's way with the mums and they'll be conked out in no time. But still I try...

I needed a new table out here on the porch so I asked hubby to bring a spool home from work. (And he did, cuz he's sweet like that.) I just love it! I probably love it even more because it was free. Haha! Aren't free things just the best??
So I'll just be sittin' out here enjoying these last warm summer days, sippin' on my sweet tea, and whenever fall decides to actually show up, I'm ready for it.

Good Old Summertime!

I absolutely LOVE summertime. I love the sunshine, flip flops, pool days, lazy mornings, homemade ice cream and snow cones, and I love the 4th of July!

The front porch looks so cheerful all dressed up in red, white, and blue. I've even managed to keep a few plants alive - go me!

I'm too lazy to make a new wreath for each season, so I just jab seasonal stuff into this same wreath for every holiday. LOL! I like it with the little flags and summer flowers.

We always enjoy our backyard patio in the summer. The vintage glider has been in our family for many many years, and I just love it - this year it's aqua blue, my favorite color! But it's been known to change colors from year to year... ;)

The fun pineapple pillow cover was in our last box from Gable Lane Crates, doesn't it look so summery?
I'll letcha in on a little secret, Walmart has the galvanized metal trays on sale for $5 - that's a deal! I got a round one and a rectangle one, and there's so many things you can do with them.
I hope all you lovelies have a beautiful and safe holiday.
Happy Independence Day, and God Bless America!

Getting my SPRING on!

We're having some absolutely splendid weather, and it kicks my spring nesting into overdrive. I'm filling this place with blooms, greens, and plenty of sunshine!
I saw this cute little bunny at Walmart and I just couldn't resist bringing him home with me.
Welcome back little birdies. I've missed you!
Jenny was saying her house was beginning to look like a greenhouse and I'm like, is that a bad thing? Haha!

I'm so ready to start planting flowers  for my front porch, but I'd better be patient and wait a bit longer for that. I have a hard enough time keeping plants alive anyway...
Happy Spring, peeps!

Porch Decor

I love having a front porch and I love Christmas decorations, so naturally I love coming home to a lit up house. It has been in the high 60's and mid 70's here, so it, of course, turned rainy and chilly when I went to take the pictures today. I think the warmer weather helped everyone get festive with their outside décor. We've seen a lot more houses with lights and our street is lit up like a Christmas tree. Ba-dum-cshhhhhhh! ;)

My porch kinda transpired into a Christmas tree farm, but I'm cool with that. All of my trees came from yard sales or Goodwill and I've almost concluded you can never have too many trees. Almost. I'm sure everyone around me thinks I'm nuts. Especially my neighbors watching me take pics. Why in the world didn't she do it on Saturday when it was really warm? But, I digress...

I had one plaid blanket that I had picked up at a yard sale this summer. However, when Brittany mentioned that Big Lots had them for cheap, I knew I "needed" two.
This little guy also came from Big Lots. He was more than I would normally pay, but since he was the right thing and everything else came from thrifting, I went ahead and splurged. Pan and lantern came from hubby's junk.
As I watched my porch slowly transform into a tree farm, I knew I needed one of our signs from Down Grace Lane. The cabinet, skates, and cream separator are thrifted. The sled is from hubby's junk.

 Cooler, lantern, and box...yard sales.
So, who's tired of my yard sale posts? ;)

Christmas on the Porch

The porch may look a little hodge podge this year, because I tried to use things I already had on hand, or things that I found extra cheap.
Lucky for me, the flea market style is in right now. ;)

I hit Big Lots up on their black Friday sale, and scored these cute plaid blankets for $3 each. I love how throwing a blanket on something is like adding instant shot of cozy.
The pillows are from my Etsy shop, The Parsonage Queen.

I wanted a big ole sign on the porch, but didn't want to spend a lot of cash, so I snooped around in my hubby's stash of old wood in the backyard, and found this board. It was perfect - exactly what I was looking for. I painted some simple letters and, bam. I had my sign. Cost - $0.00 (Yay!)

The buffalo check pillow is from Hobby Lobby - I fell in love with it!

If I had a dozen pairs of old skates, I'd use every one of them. They look cute anywhere! I found these at Goodwill years ago.

So what I said about using stuff I already had? Yeah, I meant that. I even snatched my 4 year old's rain boots and stuck them out there. Hey, it works. ;) The urns that the trees were in seemed out of place with the other more rustic things, so I searched the house and found various "pots" to use instead. My favorite is the vintage ice cream maker bucket - that mint green color is my fave!

I made the wreath with a sign and a few sled ornaments that I found at Big Lots. And of course, I had to add a touch of plaid with the ribbon!

I didn't spend much money at all, but yet, I love how it all came together. Sometimes the best things are things you already have. You just have to think outside the box, and re purpose things. Then you end up with something original and unique - and you still have some cash in your pocket!

Happy October!

It's been getting much cooler around here lately, so I figured I may as well toss all my dead summer plants and just make peace with the end of summer. I was waiting for a clear day to take pics of the porch and finally gave up. It has rained and rained and rained some more. I took these in a drizzle.
I kept everything neutral, it just seems calming somehow. I love soft colors.

I made the burlap wreath last year, and I've used it a lot - it's so versatile, and goes with any season. (I love decor like that!)
I mixed some real pumpkins with painted plastic ones.

I got the chalkboard from Kirklands last year. It's really been a fun thing to have out there!

Now I just want to sit out here and eat pumpkin spice everything!

Cabinet Redo

Hey! My SIL and I are off to school today. We're starting a new adventure in homeschool and the parent training course takes place the next three days. Many of you have probably heard of it-Classical Conversations. I have a feeling my head is probably spinning as you're reading this. But, that really doesn't take much nowadays. Sigh...

I have a no-brainer project to show you today. Just slop a coat of fresh paint on and voila!
I got this cabinet at a yard sale for $5. I thought it was too cute to pass up for that price. I'm pretty sure it's technically an old TV cabinet, but it works great storing things like sidewalk chalk, balls, old planters, etc. It needed a new paint job, so I finally got around to it. Never mind the fact that I got it at last year's yard sales. Story of my life...hahaha!

The duck, wire basket, and plant in the birdcage were also yard sale finds. My hubby got the cream separator off of Craigslist for el-cheapo! The birdcage came from Hobby Lobby's 90% clearance aisle. Have I mentioned I like a good deal?

I was actually hoping the color would turn a little darker, but I already had the paint, so that's what I used. It may get another paint job down the road...when I'm bored...um, yeah.

Hope you all have a blessed day! Thanks for stopping by.
