Simple DIY Sign

I came across this old church register board and I thought hey, that would look great with my church pew!

I printed the Hymn on paper, cut it to fit, and that's all there was to it. I'm all about EASY diy projects.

It's not perfect, but it's different, and I kinda like it. :)

Chippy is my love language.

Happy Saturday, friends!
I saw this perfectly chippy and gorgeous old door out by the road in our neighborhood, so naturally, I begged my hubby to run over there and grab it for me.
Isn't she a beauty???
But wait.  It gets better.
Oh yes, it does.
When he went over to get it, the old man came out and said he had 11 old doors if he wanted them, too. Yes, ELEVEN. Say what?! Um, yeah, we want them! There's even a lovely chippy aqua blue one in the pile. That made my heart sing for reals.

I'm already excited about decorating this corner up for Christmas!

I'll leave you with a piccy of my sweet Ollie boy, because he's just so stinkin' cute. Even if he stole my favorite chair and claims it as his own...

Ladder Love

So, awhile back, I'd gone out to my Great Aunt's farm to shoot some pictures of my boys. As we walked through the old barn, I stumbled onto this perfectly old and beautiful barn ladder. I was instantly smitten.

My Aunt graciously gave it to me, and totally made my day.

I'm sure it will get changed around a zillion times and a zillion ways, but that's the fun of it, right?! ;)

It's deliciously chippy and weathered with the coolest rusted nails. All the things that make my junkin heart sing. :)

Cheap Mirror Knockoff

I love the huge mirrors seen floating around Pinterest and Instagram that have a rounded top and framed sections.

I have yet to find one in my budget. So, when I saw these at Family Dollar for $12 I figured I could reach a compromise.
I knew there had to be a way to spray paint them even if it meant taping off the mirrors. The back came off, but there were about 39 screws in each one. No joke. Each section was an individual mirror. Oy! The fun part was putting them back together.

All that aside, I sprayed and then took a sander and gave it a pretty distressed look.

No matter how I took the pics, something in them looked crooked. I'm going to blame it on a older home and say the flooring is off. LOL. It's also in a small hallway area and I had to stand in the bathroom to get them.

As you can see, I moved my cabinet from the school room to here. Love it!

Road Trip!

A few weeks ago, the hubby and I had the rare opportunity to take a little trip together, without the kids! Woohoo! This doesn't happen often, so we decided to make it a fun trip, even if it was just for a couple of days.
First stop, The Vintage Station in Bessemer, AL. Coolest place ever. It's a historical old train station, turned into a fabulous junkin spot.

So many old windows, and I wanted them all.

I was wishing I had room to bring home a few of these beauties, too.

And these awesome railroad cart tables. Swoon...

Then on to Vicksburg, MS, where we stayed in the amazing Duff Green Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
This place has a fascinating history. It survived the civil war by becoming a hospital for wounded soldiers on both sides. There's a hole in the ceiling where a canon ball came through, and blood stains on the original wood floors.

I wish I'd taken more pics  of the grounds, the courtyard was just gorgeous.

The rooms had 15.5 ft ceilings, and the super tall windows let in the most glorious light.

The entryway.

One of the sitting rooms...

I loved the detail on the ceilings!

The dining room.

And I didn't know until AFTER I'd reserved the room, that this mansion is famous for it's civil war ghosts. There are quite a list of accounts where people have seen a wounded confederate soldier, many say they've seen Mary Green, the lady of the house in her long victorian style dress, and others say they've seen young Annie Green, who died at the mansion at the age of 6. There were actually several rooms occupied by ghost hunters the night we were there, they were all set up with infrared cameras hoping to catch some action. Luckily, we received no visitors, spirit or otherwise, during our stay. LOL! I told my hubby, I'm pretty sure his snoring kept them all away. ;)
