Kitchen Update

If I were to chose what my favorite room in the house was, I think I'd have to go with the kitchen. Not because I like to cook, because I DO NOT, but because it is turning out like what I envisioned in my head. I am taking my time, making tweaks here and there and not just doing something for the sake of getting it done. I may or may not be known for that. Don't ask my patient hubby. :)

Some of you have seen my before pictures, but for those who haven't...well, it's necessary.
This was the day we moved in. I realize some may love this style, but without trying to offend anyone, it just isn't my taste.
Down came the wallpaper and fresh paint was added, including the cabinets and countertop. It made a major difference!
Here's where we are today. Added new lighting above the sink and I love, love, love them! Ok, maybe that's a little strong, but um, I'm in major like with them. :) They are still available at IKEA if you're interested. We also had a drippy faucet, so IKEA came through again on that.
It makes me smile! It also confuses people. LOL!

A shade gave it a finished look and it stays rolled up. It works as a valance curtain.
You can see in this pic that there was a cream dishwasher. The church bought us a new dishwasher and stove. Can I get a whoop-whoop?

I now have some décor on top of the cabinet. Just stuff I already had, but switched up.
Oh, and I also have curtains. Shout out to TJMaxx! That store has a magnetic device in there to reel me in. I love how it's always random things. The letters came from Micheals-use those coupons-and remind us that we need to eat. Bwahaha! Yeah, right. No one in my family needs reminded.
Looking the other direction:
Take #1:
Take #2:
While I really liked my colorful plates, I added my cow poster and they didn't quite match. I really like the farmhouse cottage look, so I "think" that's where this is headed. I reserve the right to change my mind. HA!

I got all the white plates at Goodwill and the minnow catcher at a yard sale. I'm pretty sure the old guy who sold it to me wondered why in the world I wanted it. I love galvanized metal.

If you would have told me a few years ago I'd have a cow poster hanging in my kitchen, I would have laughed at you. Well, maybe not out loud, but my facial expression would have been humorous. Miss Mustard Seed has made them look appealing. I saw this print in a fun little store and I'll share that story later.

Now, if I can figure out how to keep it clean. Trust me when I say it seldom looks like this. There's usually dishes in the sink, toys under the table, the latest drawing project on top, and something sticky on the floor. I think people tend to forget we usually only show off our highlights. It's normal here, take my word.

So, hey, thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed my little kitchen tour. Have a blessed day!

Oh, and we'd love for you to hit that follow button on the sidebar and tell your friends about us.

  1. I looove your kitchen. I like to cook too, but I hate cleaning up the mess. However, since I don't do much cooking anymore I don't have to worry about cleanup. Haha
    Love, Momma

  2. I absolutely love everything about this kitchen. And I'm way jealous of all that SPACE. And your new appliances, and your lights, and that awesome big window....
And yeah, I don't like the cooking part OR the cleaning up. We always say that when we get rich, we'll just eat out all the time. LOL!

  4. I commented I thought so if this comes through twice, I'm sorry! I want to paint my cabinets white, which are
The same color yours were😢. Also wanting to paint my walls white. What color did you use and how difficult was it to paint your cabinets? I'm torn over the method to use😓

    1. Hey there! My hubby got a special paint from Lowes that is specifically for that kind of surface. It is pricier, but it goes on so much better. My wall color is actually an extremely light gray. (I'm out of state right now, so I'm not sure of the name). You can tell it's gray next to the trim, but it looks white going on.
