Girl's Room Redo

My little girly is not quite so little anymore. Many of her things had seen better days, so we decided it was time to upgrade her room. After giving her a firm no to an "Elsa" theme, she was pretty excited about doing the colors coral and mint green.

My first step in bedroom decorating is to find the bedding. We hunted high and low and never could find what we were looking for. I finally decided to just go with a white quilt (IKEA) and make her an accent throw in those colors (Hobby Lobby material). This room redo took waaaaaaaaaay longer than it should have because of that very last sentence. If it involves sewing, I'm the last person to jump in and get it done. HA!

I have wanted to attempt stripes for a long time, but could never decide where. I love them in here!

I knew I wanted to involve some fellow makers in this room redo. The polka dots are wall stickers from my friend Just the Frosting. They are super easy to use and peel easily off of your wall. She has oodles of designs, including quotes and customs.

I made the sign as the same as others from my Down Grace Lane. A friend had posted this quote on Facebook and I loved it. I want her soul to be beautiful with Jesus and we've already read this and talked about it some. I want it to be a reminder to her, as well as me.

I spray painted her old bookshelf to match.

The adorable little giraffe reminds me of my niece. My friend Theresa's Crochet Shop made it and has so many adorable others. Oh my! They are just all so stinkin' cute!

Isn't he just so keeeeeuuuute?!

For fun, kicks, and giggles, I even painted her closet door. It gives that side of the wall a nice pop of color without having to add much décor.

There are several of my maker friends on this wall. The cute wooden heart cutout is from Aces of Oregon. It matches perfectly. I got the frame around it at a yard sale and spray painted it to match. I love how it pulls out the heart.

The cute little bike art is from Details2Enjoy. I did a separate post on how it was put together. Another unique shop with lots of fun things!

I won the mason jar art in an IG giveaway from Kate's Crafty Heart. Super cute! She customized it with her name. Of course my daughter thought that was very cool since nothing has her name on it.

The "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" is handpainted by Handcrafted Brunette. She is amazing and has so much cuteness in her shop.

All of these makers are on Instagram and I would encourage you to check them out.

The gumball machine was spray painted to match, but her little brother has rubbed some off of the top from trying to sneak in and help himself.

I'm kicking myself because I passed up a chandelier at a yard sale. That would have been so cool to spray paint and hang in here. I'm keeping my eye out. Maybe something better will come along.

On a humorous note: This quilt is massive and tucked in strategically to get it to lay right. We had revival coming, so I told her to sleep with her little brother in the next room. This way the bed stayed made. LOL! However, she has slept in there since.

So, we still have a pretty made bed.

Thank you to my maker friends for collaborating with me with your products.

Big Boys Room

Ok friends, I have officially wrestled my very last bunkbed sheets. Not doing that anymore. Even though it was some good cardio...

You know how it starts. The 5 year old needs a big boy bed, because after all, he's 5 years old still sleeping in a crib converted into a toddler bed. Yeah, it was time. So I decided he could have the guest bed. Then the big guys were like well, hey, if you're taking the bed out of the guest room, let us move into that room! And that's how the great fruit basket turnover of 2016 started. The whole house has been perfect chaos ever since.
But it's all good. Things are starting to come together. Kinda.
That room was a bit bigger than their old room, so (Hallelujah!) we were able to separate the bunks. Now they have no excuses, they can change their own sheets.

I didn't want to put a lot of money into the room swap, so all we did was put a fresh coat of white paint on the walls (Bright White from Sherwin Williams). I found the striped comforters on sale at Target for $14 each - Score! They didn't come with shams, so I bought solid navy ones from Walmart for 2.88 each. Made the throw pillows from some scrap fabric I had in my stash. I got the whole set of nautical flags on ebay for under $20, then strung them together to make banners. The oars were a Hobby Lobby clearance purchase - can't beat $12! Large metal letters were from TJ Maxx a few years ago.

Now, if I can just get the 5 year old's big boy room all done, I'll be one happy Mama!

Don't forget you still have a few days to enter the awesome watch giveaway! See previous post to enter.
 Have a great weekend, friends!

Soul Sisters. And a GIVEAWAY!

Soul sisters. Kindred spirits. Besties. BFF's.

You know the one gal that came to your mind right there, right?

I love my soul sisters, and am thankful for each one that God has blessed me with. Friends just make life that much brighter.  Jenny and I were able to get together for a brief visit last week, and it was just so much fun and went by way too fast. When you find that one sister that's just as weird as you are and totally "gets" you? Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

The sweet girls over at The Sister Studio sent us a set of these adorable mugs, and they want to give away a set to one of YOU as well! How cool is that?!

The giveaway is over at our Instagram feed, so be sure you hop on over and enter! (Link is over there on the right side bar.)
Love them but afraid you might not win? No problem. They're also offering a 10% off discount to all of our friends. Just use the code CHAPEL10. These are a great way  to celebrate your bff's!

Thrifted Chair Gets a Makeover

Happy Weekend, friends! We are TOTALLY enjoying a gorgeous warm sunny day here in Alabama the Beautiful. We're soaking it up while it lasts, I've got the windows thrown open and I'm loving this warm breeze and fresh air. Good for the soul, I tell ya. I guess I was feeling the need for some Spring time, because I couldn't pass up some fresh flowers from the grocery store today!
This cute little shopping tote is in my shop, The Parsonage Queen.

I told you guys I'd show you the before photo of the chair I snagged from the Thrift Store. Well there she is, folks. Straight from the 70's with her lovely gold velour fabric and gold trim on the wood...

I really want to recover the seat with new fabric, but for a temporary quick fix, I painted it with some cheap fabric paint. Cuz gold just ain't my thang.

I used white chalk paint on the rest, and I'm loving how much brighter it is now. Not bad for 15 bucks. It doesn't have to take a wad of cash to make a pretty room.

Do you follow us on Instagram? Well you should! We're hosting some super fun hashtags with prizes and everything. This week, we want you to share your photos of neutral decor with us, and the winner will get this tote bag from The Parsonage Queen! There have been some super stunning photos already, you'll want to check it out. And we'll be doing new themes and new prizes EVERY WEEK! How awesome is that?! You can click on the Instagram link over there on the right of this page to follow us, and the hashtag is called #chapelcottagecrushes

I created this pillow to use for Valentine's Day decor, and ever since I put it in there, I can't get that song outta my head! ;) I thought you guys might like it too, so I listed it in the shop as well. You can get your own "Kiss me under the light of a Thousand Stars" pillow cover from The Parsonage Queen.
