DIY Cozy Sweater Pillows

I've been slowly phasing out summer things and replacing them with fall and winter things. It's hard for me just to give up summer cold turkey, I'm SO not ready for it to be over!
The summer throw pillows on my sofa were looking a bit shabby, and not in a chic sort of way. I wanted some fun fall pillows without forking over very much cash. Hobby Lobby has the best deal with their pillow covers. If you use a coupon, they're about $7 each - way cheaper than buying new pillows! I found the "Thankful" cover in their fall stuff, and I loved it! It's perfect for my neutral decor.

I still needed a few more pillows, so I went to the Thrift Store, and came home with a stack of old sweaters, for under $1 apiece.

Turning those sweaters into pillow covers was a super quick and easy project. I love the texture it adds, and sweaters just feel so cozy.
This was certainly not an original idea, But you could do all sorts of different things to make them unique. I like things simple, but you could add flowers, ribbon, felt designs, anything to dress them up. The possibilities are endless. If you make some, I'd love to see them!

This one was made from an angora sweater, and it is SO very soft.

Yep, I'm still loving all the cotton! I just may use that stuff year round.

The centerpiece on the coffee table was super simple as well, all it took was a wood box, a string of greenery garland, and some faux pumpkins, and Voila! Instant fall decor.

  1. Okay, I've just spent the last 2 days reading the Painted Parsonage and then this blog straight through beginning to end. I don't even remember what I was looking for when I found it... But I absolutely love it. I wish I lived anywhere near you so that you could decorate my house (and so that I could get those thrift store prices! wow! Sometimes here it's cheaper to buy new!) I am in the midst of transforming my living room (also with windows on two sides of a corner) from a red/black/brown that's been going on for a looong 6 years to a teal/silver/natural wood look. I just don't have the skills or the time/patience to do what you do... kinda thinking I might just show guests pics from your blog and ask them to pretend that this is what it looks like. :)

    1. Aw, thanks so much! so glad you enjoy the blog! We purchased the sofa from a small local furniture store, I don't even know what brand it is, and it isn't marked on it anywhere. Sorry! The rug is from Ballard Designs. It's an indoor outdoor rug called Antique Letter. I love it! It's so easy to clean, and for being an outdoor rug, it's actually quite soft. It's perfect for our household, with 3 wild boys and a cat! :)
