The Mom Cave

In a house full of guys, a Mommy has to have a girly space somewhere, right? This is an awkward little hall area in the back of our house. I claimed it as my sewing room, and went to work trying to make it pretty. Fun, Fun! It's tiny, so we had to get creative with storage.
The big Mercantile sign is from Down Grace Lane, and I could not be happier with it. It is absolutely perfect for this space!

I wanted to keep this room fun and bright, so I put colorful fabric in the embroidery hoops. On the chalkboard is my sewing motto. Yeah, I always end up forced to use the seam ripper...

A fun coat of coral paint brought this little cabinet back to life again.

The old sewing machine accessories tin came from my Grandmother's sewing stash. I just love it!

This cabinet isn't really a stunning piece, but it's necessary for storage. It holds a LOT of fabric and supplies.

Most of these vintage sewing notions also came from my Grandma's stash. Fun stuff.

The old stamp holder makes a great place for spools of thread.

Now that I've got this room all finished, I'm actually inspired to get in there and sew something! It's so much more fun to work when you've got a pretty space to work in.

Have a great weekend, friends!

  1. Brittany, this is adorable!! :-) I love the sign, Keep calm and get the seam ripper! :-) So TRUE! :-) Love all of your FUN things that were your Grandmas, so sweet. Everything looks so cute and fun! Just a few days ago I told Phillip that I want to create a sewing/craft space in our home, so I don't have to drag out stuff, I can just run in and sew. :-)

    Happy Crafting!

    1. Thank you, Heather! And yes, having a dedicated sewing area has been so handy. Before, I had to drag the machine and all my supplies to the dining room table, then clean it all back up for meal times... Not very convenient. I've really been enjoying this space!
