Good Old Summertime!

I absolutely LOVE summertime. I love the sunshine, flip flops, pool days, lazy mornings, homemade ice cream and snow cones, and I love the 4th of July!

The front porch looks so cheerful all dressed up in red, white, and blue. I've even managed to keep a few plants alive - go me!

I'm too lazy to make a new wreath for each season, so I just jab seasonal stuff into this same wreath for every holiday. LOL! I like it with the little flags and summer flowers.

We always enjoy our backyard patio in the summer. The vintage glider has been in our family for many many years, and I just love it - this year it's aqua blue, my favorite color! But it's been known to change colors from year to year... ;)

The fun pineapple pillow cover was in our last box from Gable Lane Crates, doesn't it look so summery?
I'll letcha in on a little secret, Walmart has the galvanized metal trays on sale for $5 - that's a deal! I got a round one and a rectangle one, and there's so many things you can do with them.
I hope all you lovelies have a beautiful and safe holiday.
Happy Independence Day, and God Bless America!

Shiplap Bathroom Update

Well. you know how it goes. I started out just repainting the bathroom and before it was over somehow it had gotten a  whole makeover.

This before photo was taken about 6 years ago, and nothing had changed in there since then. It was TIME, people.

Bye bye chocolate milk brown, hello clean white shiplap!
Cuz shiplap is my jam.
I bought 3 cheap outdoor rustic looking lights at Home Depot, and my very handy hubby spliced them all together and made it work. Super cheap way to get the farmhouse style!

The cabinet got a fresh coat of Watery from Sherwin Williams, one of my favorite colors ever. I've used it on so many things.

The before photo of the shelves...

And after.
So. Much. Brighter!

Here's the before shot of the potty side...

This space was just too tiny to be so brown. It feels like it doubled in size! One of these days, I'll do something about all the tile, but today is not that day... So for now, it stays.

And this has to be my favorite thing in the whole room.
I had an idea for a beachy sign in my head, so of course, I went to Jenny and Down Grace Lane with my idea, described what I had in mind to her, and she whipped it out like magic. It was exactly what I wanted! She's pretty awesome like that.

So that's the whole grand tour of my very tiny bathroom. I'm tickled pink with how it all turned out, and I just love how much brighter it is. It feels so fresh and clean!

Cabinet Redo

Hey! My SIL and I are off to school today. We're starting a new adventure in homeschool and the parent training course takes place the next three days. Many of you have probably heard of it-Classical Conversations. I have a feeling my head is probably spinning as you're reading this. But, that really doesn't take much nowadays. Sigh...

I have a no-brainer project to show you today. Just slop a coat of fresh paint on and voila!
I got this cabinet at a yard sale for $5. I thought it was too cute to pass up for that price. I'm pretty sure it's technically an old TV cabinet, but it works great storing things like sidewalk chalk, balls, old planters, etc. It needed a new paint job, so I finally got around to it. Never mind the fact that I got it at last year's yard sales. Story of my life...hahaha!

The duck, wire basket, and plant in the birdcage were also yard sale finds. My hubby got the cream separator off of Craigslist for el-cheapo! The birdcage came from Hobby Lobby's 90% clearance aisle. Have I mentioned I like a good deal?

I was actually hoping the color would turn a little darker, but I already had the paint, so that's what I used. It may get another paint job down the road...when I'm bored...um, yeah.

Hope you all have a blessed day! Thanks for stopping by.

In The Good O' Summertime

Continuing on with the summertime theme, let's take a look at the few things I have around the house. By the way, this is where Brittany and I part ways. Summer is not my favorite season of the year. I'm partial to spring and fall with the scale tipping more towards fall. However, I do love the 4th of July. I know it's already come and gone, but here's how we showed our patriotism.
I got the anchor last year at Hobby Lobby and their end of the year clearance. Gotta love HL! The boat something-or-other was also from their clearance a few years ago. The flags were free from last year's parade. ;) HA! Hey, it works.

The sign is actually available in my shop. I have it on sale, so now is the time to grab one. In all serious, I can get a little worried when I think of the direction the good o' USA is headed and this sign was a gentle reminder for me to stay calm and trust God's grace for us and our lives. I am proud to be an American!
Added a little summer to the corner with this yard sale purchase. Isn't it fun?

When it comes to yard sales, you have to have patience. Some weeks I don't find anything, but other times I hit the mother-load. And, those weeks are just plain awesome for the adrenaline. It makes you feel all giddy and skippy and smiley and braggy and blessed all at the same time. Only fellow deal seekers are getting me right about now...

My bathroom stays summer themed all year round because it has a beach tone to it. I love the color, but have thought about it might be time for a change. However, nothing is grabbing my attention, so it stays for a little while longer.

The boat was from a thrift store.
Décor on the cheap; take some glass candle jars from the Dollar Tree and add some twine around them. Fill with sand and shells. Boom. Done. Easy and cheap.

Sweet Summertime

Anyone that knows me even just a little bit knows how much I love summer. Hands down my favorite time of year. I love to find ways to bring a touch of summer inside, too,
because it makes me HAPPY!
We love the beach, and our home definitely reflects that.
I looked high and low for a mirror to go over the mantel in the living room, and had just about given up. Then I found this frame on sale at Hobby Lobby, and I said hmmmm..... Just as I thought, my hubby was able to put a piece of mirror glass in it easy peasy. He also made the sail boat when he was a boy, and I've always loved it.

Nothing says summer time quite like pretty flowers! And daisies are such fun, happy flowers. They look right at home in some plain milk bottles. (Thank you once again, Hobby Lobby. These bottles are a steal at $1.99 each.)

Colorful throw pillows are another great way to add a splash of summer to your decor.

When we were at the beach this summer, I asked my little guys to find as many white seashells as they could find. They did a great job, and we brought home piles of them. So now, we have this pretty reminder of our trip on display in the living room.

One of the things I adore about this old house is the fireplace in the bedroom. Right now, it's filled with all the things that make me happy, hydrangeas, old blue jars, vintage cameras, beach photos, and a cute little pink bicycle (because I just could NOT pass it up...)

The old cameras are special to me, not only because I love dabbling in photography, but also because they belonged to my Papaw. It's fun to have special things out where you can actually SEE them and enjoy the memories.

I certainly hope you all are having a fun summer. We are enjoying ours to the FULLEST!
